Election, Vote in the 08 Election

With the Iowa Caucus just around the corner all the candidates are putting their election face even closer to the windshield of the election process. This election year they face challenges that are not evident to the rest of us. Perhaps their greatest challenge is how to be in your face without appearing to be in your face, that is until after the election. So far everyone seems to be doing an excellent job of it as they impress the voters with image over substance. Their challenge will be to hold steady and hope their momentum will carry them through as they are out of reinvention time by now.

Election, Vote in the 08 Election

Hillarie’s machine, those fine upstanding, ever-so-honest attack holdovers and hand-me-downs from Bill’s glory years have been chained up in a corner somewhere and told to hold off smearing anyone for a brief time. They will be out in force as soon as we get a little closer to the main election. They are currently out gathering up third grade essays from all the other candidates and preparing to unleash their vomit as soon as it is practical, translation, until after the Election. The media has been given their walking orders by losing the vast majority of their viewers and readers due to their left leaning bias. In their case, shutting up is their challenge. They can no longer be counted on to run interference for the liberals as they have lost their impact. Only now, just days before the Primaries in Iowa , are the media showing their claws in liberal support. Romney is defending himself from anything that might be Republican and lurking in the shadows, someone is going to have to remind him of Reagan’s eleventh commandment in the near future or he may self destruct even before the Iowa process, never mind getting to the 08 Election.

The only losers, so far, are the Iowa residents who seem to be unable to get a break from the incessant drumbeat of all things political. Right now, it is as if the 2008 Elections are going on in their back yards. They don’t deserve any slack as they asked for it by being first. Little boys are asking when the candidates will go home so they can carry their sweetie’s schoolbooks again without having a candidate right there taking them for her. Many of the outdoor outhouses in Iowa seem to have attracted an assistant who will be going home as soon as the Caucus concludes. For the candidates, it must be difficult to remain so jolly in the midst of the weather conditions in Iowa this time of year. The plastic smiles are beginning to look a little worn just before the big vote. John Edwards has been forced to order extra strength hair spray so as not to tarnish his Wonderboy image as he hopes it will carry him through Election day. Being pleasant, all the time, is part of the challenge for all the candidates as they bleat their way toward Election day.

The Democrats and their handlers are doing their best to remain aloof, independent and cool or at least imply this image to the voters. Their biggest liability and the most dreaded ghost in their closet is that in spite of their efforts, someone will remind voters of Pelosi and Reid who have also been shut down and quiet while the voters make their choice. These two individuals can alienate voters quicker than the worst mud slinging Republican ad. So far, the candidate’s skirts have remained clean as they are keeping their distance from Pelosi or Reid. Where is Reid declaring that the war in Iraq is lost? What about Pelosi who would tax the air we breathe if she could? What about Chucky Schumer who is the closest thing to a village idiot the Senate has ever seen? His total working life has been in one elected office or another. The man has never had a job nor has he ever been outside of the political cocoon. He’s an idiot that considers the American public to be bigger idiots! How do voters like being thought of as idiots? They must not mind as they keep electing him. Where is Kennedy with all of his bluster? Maybe he is out on a binge or sleeping it off for a while. He will bring his obese body with its big nasty big red nose back to town, strutting his Communist agenda across the Senate floor right after the 2008 Elections take place.

The ultimate challenge for the Democrats is to have us believe that the current crop of third rate, under the table, low life Democrats, those in majority in both the House and Senate are not reflective of them. Yes, that’s the ticket! Those currently in office are the “other” type of Democrat, not like us Democratic candidates at all! It seems to be working as the House has recently carried a popularity rating of 14% yet none of this seems to have affected the current crop of Democratic candidates. In order to pull this off, they must consider the voting public to be several points dumber than an unripe tomato. No problem. The ultimate challenge for the Democrats is to look at the voters, right in the eye, knowing that they are thought of as having an IQ somewhere below 25 and attempting to take them seriously. For Obama, who has done everything conceivable to bury his past, this was an assumed job prior to getting into the campaign.

The Republicans have their challenges as well. John McCain is the only one who has Military experience yet he has been known as the Democrat’s favorite Republican for years. McCain is a consensus builder, not a leader. Rudy would rather fight than switch. At this point, his challenge is looking for something to fight without getting into a fight with the voters. Rudy is happiest when he has something to fight, like maybe a war. Huckabee is still the candidate that is full of surprises. He comes from nowhere and without any appreciable backing from the media or the back room boys, has impressed the public and is taking the perceived lead. Time will tell how long he will hold it as the big boys see him as an adversary. Neither Huckabee nor Hunter played ball by kneeling at the alter of the established Republican machine. Mitt looks and acts like a Mormon boardroom professional. He is polished, articulate and firm. Mitt brings some Boston baggage with him as well, however, it is not enough to make or break him during the election season.

All of the Republicans got into the race with a huge challenge. They have to convince the voters that they are not Bush but are somehow superior to Bush. The problem is that Bush has been a dyed in the wool Republican since day one. Sure, Bush lost his bearings when it came to several immigration issues but other than that, the current crop of Republicans have written him off due to popularity rather than substance. It seems that the candidates from both Parties are forced to be something other than what the voters know to be true. With that in mind, the only thing they have to fall back on is individual strength and likeability.

Everyone is standing back waiting for someone else to make a gaff. It doesn’t have to be an event of mindless stupidity as almost anything will do. Just a mis-statement, maybe an off camera moment of privacy anything that will sling a little mud in the direction of another candidate will do. These are the type of things the handlers say influence elections
! When this becomes the ultimate challenge for the candidates, you have to know that the idea cupboard is somewhat bare. Best of luck in the 2008 Elections America! We’re going to need it.
