The list of those adversely victimized by the “Obama Effect” is growing. Most recently, a 78 year old Priest, Rev Norman Weslin was arrested on the grounds of Notre Dame Campus along with Dr. Allen Keys. The Priest was protesting abortion support on the grounds of the Catholic University and was carried off on a stretcher. You may feel that you have encountered a misprint or a case of mistaken writer’s syndrome but you have not. The Priest was arrested, at the insistence of Notre Dame Administration, for trespassing, while protesting abortion support. Opposing abortion has been a stalwart tenet of faith in the Catholic community forever. They have become more adamant and less willing to yield or compromise since the Roe Vs Wade decision in 1973 yet they have had their own supporters arrested.

There has been a firestorm of controversy over the invitation to the President of the United States to deliver the graduation invocation. The President’s ideology is so diametrically opposed to the views and positions of the Catholic University that his mere presence is enough to evoke this intense reaction. Alumni, staff and a host of those associated to the University have voiced their opposition to the invitation. Traditionally, a guest speaker who may have inadvertently caused disruption would politely decline the invitation in order to preserve harmony. Part of the Obama Effect is to jut his chin into the air, puff out his chest and pompously parade into the University in order to force those in dissention to accept his presence. This has been the hallmark of the Obama Effect in every contentious situation. There has been no humility, no compromise and no compassion ebbing from the White House. In its place have been arrogance , assertion and self aggrandizement from day one of the Administration.


Notre Dame is only the most recent institution to feel the Obama Effect. To date, all of the American automotive manufacturing companies, many banks and many insurance companies have felt it as well. In all cases, Constitutional law has been superfluous to the matter as the Administration and the Congress roll their agenda over the rights and will of these institutions. On a level closer to home, obesity has been attacked by increasing tax on “unhealthy” soft drinks and smokers have been attacked through taxes as well. Ostensibly this intrusion into the personal habits of Americans has been justified by the statement that “they” are trying to “discourage” wrong habits and behaviors. Many Americans feel that they no longer want to be encouraged or discouraged by a government that is overrun by the degree of corruption found in the halls of American leadership. It is simply, under the Constitution, not their job.


In the following week, President Obama will meet with Benjamin Netanyahu, Bibi, Prime Minister of Israel. To date, he has told representatives from Briton to take back their statute of Winston Churchill and advanced a plethora of Executive Orders favorable to the Islamic community. Information regarding the meeting between Obama and Bibi will be sanitized before any information is permitted to go to press. Americans will never know how the Obama Effect will be felt at that meeting. With Iran coming down the home stretch in their Nuclear bomb making efforts, there is a tremendous need for integrity and trust to develop yet, the Obama Effect will preclude such a foundation.
